Charlie Knoblauch: Democrat for Metro Court Judge
Charlie Knoblauch

Biography

Charlie was born and raised in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. After dropping out of high school and getting his GED, he worked in many areas involving manual labor, particularly in the areas of building construction. Traveling throughout the U.S., Charlie followed the seasonal work. Enchanted by New Mexico, he put down his roots in Albuquerque and has lived here in New Mexico since 1977.

While working full-time, he attended the University of New Mexico. After completing his undergraduate work and receiving a degree from UNM, he attended the UNM School of Law with the intention of working in criminal justice. After graduating from law school, Charlie worked in southern New Mexico’s borderlands as a public defender.

Although the public defender work was rewarding and intensive, he missed Albuquerque and returned in 1996. Since his return, he has been busy in all the area courts, particularly the Metropolitan Court. He and his wife, Susi, live with their two dogs, Midnight and Chiva, in the Barelas neighborhood.
